Texas Hill Country Boar Hunt
Epic Texas boar hunt with @blake_blackmar in the books!
I flew in Thursday night and we b-lined strait to camp in the hill country of Texas. We woke up at 5am and hunted from the blind for a few hours. A couple deer and some turkey sighted in the afternoon but no boar. @mlmorgan62 managed to get one before dark that made for an educational gutting and skinning demonstration that night. Beers by the fire and blake's boar saddle stew before bed. The next morning we tried a different blind. Shortly after first light, a buck came around to eat some corn. After a few minutes it was spooked and two nice boar came running in. After about 7 hours of watching with no hogs in sight this fired up the adrenaline. I calmed down a bit and lined up the crosshairs with the low inside shoulder, and took the shot. Both boar bolted with no indication of a hit. I thought I had completely missed. Blake and I hiked down and found a blood trail. After about 10 minutes of following the trail (4th vid) we found the hog, with a well placed shot strait through the lungs and shrapnel through the heart (found during butchery), most likely resulting in a fast, swift death, and my first big game kill. I thanked Mr. Boar and paid my respects, then we brought him back to camp on the Polaris. We were up last night processing until 4am, butchering both hogs, grinding sections, and stuffing sausage. Lots of good content coming.
I learned just about as much as one could in two days thanks to the pros @blake_blackmar and his dad.
